Dam Scramble -- August 25th 2012 8:30am Start --Dam Scramble is an Endurance Trail Challenge at the CurwensvilleLake Recreation Area. Participants will have the opportunity to complete one 9-mile loop or continue on for 18 miles by doing two loops. The majority of the course will be on single-track trails through the woods with many beautiful views of CurwensvilleLake. There will be many hills to get the heart pumping. We want you to have a challenging but rewarding “scramble” around the lake! This challenge is open to both hikers and runners, however, this will not be your average “walk in the woods” so please only attempt this if you are sufficiently trained.
Rothrock Challenge is the Hyner's southern cousin. Voted by La Sportiva's Mountain Cup Series as one of the ten best trail races in the country. Also a Trophy Series Race sponsored by Trailrunner Magazine and the second Grand Slam race. It's a 30K filled with awesome single track, elevation changes that will numb the legs, and hair-raising scrambles through boulders and cliffs. The PA Trail Dogs' apple didn't fall too far from the tree on this one. If you liked the Hyner, then you'll feel right at home in Rothrock. 2011's race will be Saturday June 2nd. Click for Map. See checkpoint map. LaSortiva article.
Try All by Fire--Try All By Fire Is Not A Race... It is a journey. It is a quest. It is a calling to people seeking a little bit of adventure. Or a lot. That is what makes this event so unique; the path is entirely up to you. Through the scenic countryside of Pennsylvania, where winding trails and rushing waters abound, there lies a meeting place; a Finish Line, if you will, where endurance athletes from all over will converge for a special celebration. A Trybal ceremony for people who heed the call. The call to abolish boundaries, to forge a path of personal fortitude, to push past fatigue and former limits, to find out what lies within, way down deep in the center of our guts. We’ll be there to greet you at the end, perhaps a slightly different you than who embarked at the beginning. (Event Date: August 11, 2012)
